Her books are internationally acclaimed and she received the Edgar Allan Poe Award in the United States as well as the \u003ci\u003eGuardian\u003c\/i\u003e Award for Fiction in this country for \u003ci\u003eThe Whispering Mountain\u003c\/i\u003e.
